INCENZO's Daily Rituals: The Tao of Anti-aging
Share
The Answer is Simple
How might we make more room for stillness? In Taoist-inspired daily practice, this can mean taking an unhurried pause and noticing what is already here. It is a philosophical invitation, not a method for reversing aging.
There is no fixed seven-day promise or universal timetable. Begin with a quiet moment that fits your day, without demanding a particular physical result.
In Taoism, the dual cultivation of life and nature is equivalent to the Buddhist practice of mindfulness. This effect must be clearly distinguished — no impure thoughts, no evil thoughts, no wicked thoughts, and no improper thoughts. At this time, when the positive energy (yang) returns and the position of the primordial time arrives, the yang energy is restored.
The Practice is Challenging
Returning to stillness can take practice. It should not be presented as a cure for illness or a promise of a longer life; medical concerns deserve appropriate professional care.
Out of a hundred people who practice, not even half of them succeed. Why? Firstly, everyone wants longevity, wealth, authority, a long life, obedient sons and daughters, obedient wives, and they want to become Buddhas and immortals. Can you occupy all the benefits in the world with so many desires?
It’s impossible. With so many desires, if you can’t sit still for even ten minutes every day, and if you can’t calm your mind, your breath won’t return to the tranquil realm, it won’t gather at the primordial position, and the positive energy will never return.
“Stillness” is the essential method for nurturing life and cultivating the Tao. In terms of health (including the pursuit of health and longevity), all the sources of life functions grow from “stillness,” which is a natural function.
In the natural world, the growth of any living thing, be it an animal, plant, or mineral, is abundantly nourished by “stillness.” Especially in plants, a flower, a grain of rice, wheat, and so on, all grow in a state of stillness and wither in motion. Human life often requires rest to balance with activity. Sleep is an habitual posture for humans to rest, and the inexhaustible vitality of human life depends on sufficient rest to continually rejuvenate.
As Laozi said, “All things are inextricably rooted and return to their roots; returning to the roots is called stillness, and this is known as returning to one’s destiny.”
