Form & dimensions Low-profile ceramic incense holders with a central stick opening. The outer shape varies by design, rather than being one shape with different patterns. Approximate dimensions are 1.8–2.2 in long, 1.8–2.2 in wide, and 0.3–0.4 in high; handmade pieces vary slightly.

Stick placement & ash Place the unlit end of one incense stick in the central opening and check that it sits securely before lighting. The small ceramic surface is not a full-length ash tray; use a larger, heat-resistant ash-catching dish underneath, especially with 8-inch (21 cm) sticks. Never force a stick into the opening or leave burning incense unattended.
